Soapbox Update - March 2018

Starting to get excited about the 2018 Soapbox Race?

We certainly are, and we wanted to share some of our latest updates with you!

We have a new course layout for this year's race. We have two new obstacles as well as the great jumps and kickers from last year! The course is 400 metres of high adrenaline action from start to finish. Which team will make it to the finish fastest? Which team won't get further than the start line? We have two giant screens and a camera crew filming all the course action, so no matter where you are stood, you will be able to see and hear the whole course so you won't miss a thing.

Our event village is growing for 2018. For when you need a break from all the on course action, we will have an area with a funfair for younger children as well as a bouncy castle. We will also have a great selection of locally produced food and drink for you to try. From burgers to Ice Cream, you will be spoilt for choice. There will also be a great festival bar open all day in two locations. No need to walk too far to get refreshed!

Parking and Road Closures Parking is available at the event, situated in the fields adjacent to the Lake Grounds. Please follow event signage and the guidance of the marshals to find your space. The cost is £5 per vehicle. The fee can be paid by cash or card. The roads around the event will be very busy. If you are able to walk or use public transport, please seek alternative arrangements to driving. Disabled Parking There will be disabled parking available on Esplanade Road. Please follow event signage and the guidance of the marshals. This is available on a first come first served basis.

Road Closures

To help the event run smoothly, there will be extensive road closures and 1 way systems in operation for Sunday 15th July as well as some road closures that will extend the duration of the event weekend. To see the full extent of the closures, please visit the council website here and select Sunday 15th July as the date. A letter will be delivered to residents affected by the closures soon.

Information Evening @ VENGA, Portishead We have confirmed the date of Thursday 7th June @19.00 to hold our information evening at VENGA on Portishead High Street. The evening will be an informal affair where you can come and ask us questions about the 2018 event and have a drink at the same time. What's not to like?

This evening will be great not only for the teams to meet each other, but it will also be a chance for our sponsors, volunteers and local residents to all catch up before the event takes place. Why not come along and see what the event is all about.
