Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding COVID19 and live events, the planning for the 2021 Portishead SoapBox Race has been paused.
We are continually monitoring the situation and taking guidance from national government and local council as to how to proceed in 2021 and beyond. We really hope that the SoapBox Race will be able to go ahead, however ensuring that competitors, volunteers, and the public are safe is our upmost priority.
In the meantime, please keep watch of the website and social media for updates, alternatively, please sign up below to receive updates about the 2021 event.

A message from Portishead Soapbox Race Team.
‘We have been completely overwhelmed by the support and sheer enthusiasm of our participants, spectators and all those who help make the Portishead Soapbox Race as awesome as we think it is.
Every year, a small core team spend 12 months planning, and working incredibly hard to get us ready for the next race.
It’s here, on race day, where we are able to celebrate and share the success of that hard work, as well as the efforts from teams, sponsors and volunteers, with the local community and beyond.
As the event has grown, each year has brought new challenges that are becoming harder to overcome - from increased financial demands, ever rising documentation and ongoing dialogue with local authorities, through to the guaranteed assurance required that our local road infrastructure and town can handle an event of this size.
We have therefore made the decision to hit the brakes, and to take a pause in 2020, and will not be holding a Portishead Soapbox Race.
We hope this will give our team the much needed time, space and energy to focus on working towards making the future of the Soapbox Race part of Portishead’s Heritage.
As a team, one of our main objectives has always been to sustain the future of the Portishead Soapbox Race. Alongside those aforementioned challenges, we must embrace the importance of pausing, taking stock, and taking time to ensure that we can continue to deliver a fun day, aimed at raising awareness and much needed funds for local charities, with the community of Portishead at its heart.
We know that this decision will come as a disappointment to many people, however the team hope that by having a fallow year, we will be able to return with a fresh energy, and with a view to continue for years to come.
We are incredibly proud to have been able to donate over £40,000 from this event to extremely deserving charities. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors, teams, volunteers and spectators for making this happen.
Thank you for being part of our journey so far and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2021.
Please keep an eye on our website for further updates in the future'.
